EN 50399 Test Apparatus

Compliance

EN 50399, EN 50575, CPR Regulation

The EN 50399 Test Apparatus is designed to simulate a medium scale fire test on bunched cables or fibre optic cables, where the cables are mounted on a vertical standard steel ladder and ignited using a defined ignition source to evaluate the burning behaviour and combustion performance of the cables. The test provides data on the combustion performance of the cables in the early stages of a fire, the heat release rate test reflects the risk of flame spread along the cable and the potential impact of the fire source on the adjacent area, and the smoke density test reflects the visibility of the fire area and the risk of smoke to personal safety.

EN 50399 Test Apparatus

EN 50399 & SBI

EN 50399 Test Apparatus consists of

  • Test Chamber

    - Inner dimension in 1,000±100(W) x 2,000±100(D) x 4,000±100(H) mm.

    - The inner wall of the test chamber is made of SUS316 stainless steel, 3mm thick, and the outer wall is made of metal Sprayed, filled with refractory insulation material.

    - Using type K thermocouple with a diameter of 1.5 mm and a temperature resistance of not less than 700 deg.

    - The temperature measurement resolution of 0.1 degrees, can be monitored by computer software, two thermocouples are placed above the burner for measuring the temperature inside the chamber during the EN 50399 test.

  • Chamber Air Supply

    - Used to adjust the speed of the centrifugal fan and thus control the airflow of the combustion test chamber at 8000±400L/min or 5000±500L/min.

    - U-shaped pipes of a length of not less than 4.5 m, including corrugated pipes of a length of not less than 2 m, and stainless steel pipes of a length of not less than 2.5 m.

    - Orifice flow meter device, including throttling orifice plate, micro differential pressure sensor device, through the throttling orifice plate The air flow into the chamber is measured by the pressure difference between the front and rear of the orifice plate, and the air volume can be displayed and adjusted by computer software.

  • Ducted Exhaust System

    - Stainless steel hood unit, size in 2m x 2m, to collect the combustion gas from the test chamber, with a baffle at the entrance of the hood for fume uniformity.

    - Internal stainless steel ducts of 400mm diameter, not less than 6m in length, with a spoiler at each end of the exhaust duct for uniform mixing of the flue gases.

  • Ladder, 2 sets of standard width ladders, 1 set wide width ladder.

  • Ignition Source

    - Standard recommended American AGF propane ribbon burners, model 1914, 10" Flame (10L11-55).

    - 10kV spark ignitor, can be operated via computer software.

    - Burners are placed on stainless steel trolleys, which can hold a single or two standard burners.

  • Propane Gas Supply System

    - Air mass flow controller, range of 0 to 2.6 g/s, is automatically controlled by the software.

    - Propane mass flow controller, range of 0 to 1.0 g/s, is automatically controlled by the software.

    - The supply, time, and ignition are automatically controlled by the software, manual mode is also available.

  • Combustion gas Analysis System

    - Instrumental duct, includes a stainless steel bi-directional probe connected to a differential pressure sensor, 3 K type insulated thermocouples, a smoke density measuring device, a stainless steel multi-hole sampling tube for sample gas extraction.

    - 3 Stages of particle filters.

    - combustion gas pretreatment system.

    - Smoke density measuring system.

    - Gas Analyzer (O2, CO2)

  • Software

    - System monitoring.

    - Sensors calibration.

    - System calibration.

    - EN 50399 test standard procedure.

    - Report management.
