ISO 1182 Bomb Calorimeter

The Bomb Calorimeter is for determining an absolute value of the heat of combustion for a product and it does not take into account any inherent variability of the product.

In a bomb calorimeter test, a specimen in specified mass is burned under standardized conditions, at constant volume, in an atmosphere of oxygen, in a bomb calorimeter calibrated by combustion of certified benzoic acid. The heat of combustion determined under these conditions is calculated on the basis of the observed temperature rise, taking account of heat loss and the latent heat of vaporization of water.

The following date will be reported by the bomb calorimeter test:

  • Gross heat of combustion, in MJ/kg.

Bomb Calorimeter consists of

  • The Bomb Calorimeter comprises a calorimeter, chiller, oxygen bomb, oxygen filling kit, installation tool kit, control & data system.

  • The calorimeter consists of a double-walled jacket, which is thermally insulated with an insulated lid.

  • The jacket surrounding the vessel is at a constant temperature with an accuracy of 0.1K during the test.

  • The water filling and circulating are automatic.

  • An integrated dosing cup, a tolerance of less than 0.3mL, ensures test repeatability.

  • The water is connected to a compressor cooling device, which can provide constant temperature water for continuous tests.

  • Calorimetric bomb, stainless steel made, with an internal volume of 300mL, with well-sealed lid and resist pressure up to 30MPa.

  • Crucible, made of nickel-chromium metal, with an internal volume of 7mL, wall thick in 1mm.

  • Stirrer, driven by a constant-speed motor, rated 500RPM.

  • Temperature measuring thermometer, with a resolution of 0.0001K.

  • Automatic ignition and ignition voltage at 32VAC.

  • The calorimeter can detect 2 different calorimetric bombs automatically.

  • Oxygen filling kit, easy to operate, self-automatic fills oxygen up to 3.0MPa.

  • Window-based software, English version.

  • Laptop computer, with Windows 10 system, English version.
