The Speed of Spread of Flame Test Device, in accordance with NF P 92-504, is used to determine the reaction to fire behavior and speed of spread of flame for flexible and rigid building materials when exposed to a defined flame. The NF P 92-504 test is applied to classify the material from M0 to M4 of the French building materials.

Speed of Spread of Flame Test Device consists of

  • Compactly designed, all elements are installed on the black painted base.

  • U-shape specimen holder, stainless steel made.

  • Standard burner, provides a 20mm height flame.

  • The burner can be turned to 45 degrees.

  • A needle valve controls the propane flow.

  • A motor controls the horizontal movement.

  • Provides flame gauge and sample template.

The French M Classification for Building Materials (NF P 92-507)

The “Reaction to Fire” tests classify the material into 5 categories from M0 to M4. The specific standard that is applicable depends on the intended use and defines test methods for all materials.

  • M0 - Non-flammable (Calorific Value ≤ 2.5 MJ/kg)

  • M1 - Non-flammable (Calorific Value ＞ 2.5 MJ/kg)

  • M2 - Low flammability

  • M3 - Moderately flammable

  • M4 - High flammability
