ISO 9705-1 Room Corner Test

Compliance

ISO 9705, NFPA 286, UL 1715

The Room Corner Test is used to evaluate the reaction of wall and ceiling products to fire when installed at the surface of a small room and exposed directly to a specified ignition source. The test is performed in a fire scenario, which starts under well-ventilated conditions in a corner of a specified room with a single open doorway.

Room Corner Test Equipment consists of

  • Room Corner Test Equipment containing a test room, collection hood & ducts, Instrumented duct, gas flow control system, data acquisition system, gas concentration analysis system, and windows operating software.

  • The test room shall be constructed of non-combustible material and with an internal size of 2.4m long, 2.4m wide, and 2.4m high.

  • The stainless steel made hood is mounted centrally above the opening of the test room. The size is 3m x 3m and 1m in height.

  • The exhaust duct is 400mm in diameter and connected to the exhaust hood.

  • The exhaust system has the capacity to collect all combustion gas generated from the burning material. Capacity not less than 12000 m3/h.

  • Instrumented duct, including pressure probe, thermocouples, sampling probe, and optical measurement unit.

  • The pressure probe is a bi-directional probe, made of stainless steel, connected to the pressure transmitter through a Teflon tube.

  • Pressure transmitter installed in the integrated collection section, short-range accurate detection of pressure changes, range 0-2000 Pa, accuracy ±5 Pa, T90 response time less than 1 second.

  • Three K-type thermocouples to measure the pipe temperature, diameter 0.5mm, and meet the requirements of EN 60584 armoured insulated K-type thermocouples.

  • Stainless steel probes for quick disassembly and easy cleaning.

  • Light attenuation system, of the incandescent type, mounted on the side pipe of the smoke exhaust using a flexible joint and containing the following devices.

  • The light source is incandescent and at a colour temperature of (2900±100)K Power supply of a stable direct current with a fluctuation range of ±0.5% (including temperature, short and long-term stability).

  • A lens system to concentrate the light into a parallel beam of at least 20 mm in diameter. The light-emitting aperture of the phototube shall be located at the focal point of the lens in front of it and its diameter (d) shall be determined by the focal length (f) of the lens so that d/f is less than 0.04.

  • The Light detector is a silicon photodiode probe imported from Japan, the photoelectric detection chamber has a linear stability of 0.1%, a 10-bit measurement range, the silicon photodiode whose spectral distribution responsiveness coincides with the CIE (light curve), and the standard function V(γ) can achieve an accuracy of at least ±5%.

  • The T90 response time of the optical attenuation system does not exceed 3s.

  • The sandbox burner is 170mm x 170mm square, it can be ignited with a remote-controlled spark igniter.

  • The propane gas supply is controlled by the mass flow controller, with an accuracy better than 3%.

  • The propane gas supply is fully controlled by the software, which can provide a heat output of 100kW & 300kW.

  • The gas concentration analysis system, consists of a three-stage filtration system, cold trap, sampling pump, drying column, cold trap, rotameter, gas concentration analyzer.

  • Three-stage filtration system including, first stage glass fiber cotton coarse filtration; second stage Parker filter filtration, precision 2μm; third stage PTFE membrane filtration, precision 0.5μm.

  • The filter cartridges can be quickly disassembled and replaced, and the accuracy of the filter cartridges can be selected according to the actual situation.

  • The compressed pump type cold trap, cooling capacity 320KJ/h, dew point stability 0.1℃, static change 0.1K, self-starting and maintenance-free without setting, with water evacuator, can automatically discharge cooling water.

  • The vacuum type sampling pump, sampling capacity 16L/min, continuous output +50KPa sampling pressure, gas-tight engaged, low noise, low vibration.

  • The flowmeter with a range of 0-1L/min, which can steadily output sample gas to the analyzer and reduce the measurement error of gas concentration caused by airflow changes.

  • Paramagnetic type O2 analyzer, measurement range of 0 to 25%, the accuracy of ± 0.01%.

  • NDIR type CO2 analyzer, measurement range of 0 to 10%, the accuracy of ± 0.01%.
