EN 136 Full Face Masks Resistance to thermal radiation Test Device

Full Face Masks Resistance to thermal radiation Tester

Compliance

EN 136

The Full Face Masks Resistance To Thermal Radiation Tester, in accordance with EN 136 Clause 8.6 Resistance to thermal radiation, is designed to assess the thermal resistance performance of a full face mask exposed to an 80kw/m2 radiation heat source.

EN 136 defines three classes of flame flammability performance for full face mask products.

Class 1, where the mask needs to pass a single flame source impact resistance test, and leaktightness test.

Class 2, where the mask is required to pass a six-point flame source impact test, and leaktightness test.

Class 3, where the mask has to pass the six-point flame source impact test, the resistance to thermal radiation test, and leaktightness test.

During the thermal radiation test, the mask is mounted on the dummy head and exposed to 8kw/m2 of heat radiation for 20min, the test needs to pass the leaktightness test and the mask panel clarity needs to be maintained for more than 4min.

For the leaktightness test, the mask is mounted on the dummy head and an artificial lung is used to generate a negative pressure of -10 mbar, with a change in air pressure of no more than 1 mbar for 1 minute.

Features

  • The full face mask resistance to thermal radiation tester consists of a test bench, metallic dummy head & movable stand, radiation source, artificial lung (breathing machine), heat flux meter, and differential pressure sensor.

  • Compact steel test bench, with black coating for long-life use.

  • Equips with a metallic dummy head mounted on the bench stand, the stand can move horizontally.

  • The electrical radiation source can provide 80 kW/m2 at a distance of 175mm.

  • The power supply to the radiation source is separated into two independent circles and is controlled by independent PID controllers.

  • Provides a water cooling heat flux meter, measurement range up to 100kW/m2.

  • Provides a breathing machine, 20 cycles/min, 1.5 L/stroke.

  • Provides differential pressure sensor, connected to the dummy head, used for leaktightness test.

  • The tester is controlled by the PLC and operated by an English interface.
